A nor’easter on the South Fork does not just wet the lawn. It fills the low bowl by the driveway, the boat-cover dip, and the swale that only exists after a two-day blow. Mosquitoes on that clock are not the same as a quiet July dusk. If we keep the same spray day and ignore the new puddles, you get bites on the first nice evening and assume the program failed.

Walk after the water sits, not during the wind
The useful visit is when the sky has cleared and the pools are still there. Photograph the driveway bowl, tarp folds, and any toy or bucket the storm moved. A birdbath you forgot is a different file from a flooded corner that will take three dry days to leave.
If the house was closed through the storm, tell us. The first weekend back is when you notice. That delay is occupancy, not proof last week’s treatment vanished.
Storm puddles are not the canal and not the woods
Salt marsh and neighboring wetlands keep adults moving onto the lot no matter how well you empty saucers. We will still want the new, on-property water named so we are not treating a tarp and calling it the marsh. Source reduction on your ground and adult pressure from off-site are two lines.
Gutters that packed with leaves in the blow will hold water in the trough. Downspouts that dumped onto a flat pad create a sheet that breeds. Those are storm notes. They belong next to any barrier work.
Do not merge ticks and a puddle story
A wet edge can raise tick comfort too, but the nor’easter mosquito clock is water and days-to-adult. Tick control stays a vegetation and path story. If you want both, say so. We will not hang one product on “the yard feels buggy.”
